8GB DDR4 UDIMM for desktop upgrades

This module adds 8GB of DDR4 memory to a desktop PC that uses 288-pin UDIMM slots. It runs at 2400MHz with a CAS latency of 17 and operates at 1.2V. The stick is non-ECC and unbuffered, making it suitable for standard consumer motherboards. Builders who need ECC error correction or registered modules for server boards cannot use this product.

DDR4 2400MHz standard limits bandwidth and latency

The DDR4 2400MHz interface caps theoretical bandwidth at PC4-19200 and fixes the lowest tested latency at CL17 for this speed grade. Higher DDR4 frequencies such as 2666MHz or 3200MHz are not supported by this module, so systems that can run faster memory will not benefit from those speeds. The 288-pin form factor prevents installation in any laptop or small-form-factor board that requires SODIMM modules.

Replaces DDR3 or lower-capacity DDR4

Moving from DDR3 to this DDR4 module delivers higher frequency, greater bandwidth and lower power draw at 1.2V. Upgrading from a 4GB or smaller DDR4 stick doubles capacity for multitasking headroom. The jump is worthwhile when the motherboard and CPU officially support DDR4 2400MHz UDIMM; otherwise the module will down-clock or fail to post.
