The HPE DL380 Gen9 is a 4-bay rack server built for environments that need dense storage capacity and dual-socket compute in a 2U form factor. It ships with two Xeon E5-2650L v4 processors running at 1.7 GHz, each providing 14 cores for multi-threaded workloads. The system includes 96 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed as six 16 GB modules. Integrated graphics and a 1 Gb two-port 332T network adapter handle basic display and connectivity out of the box.

Check power, rails and drives before ordering

The unit includes two 500 W Flex Slot power supplies but does not ship with any hard drives or solid-state drives. You must supply 3.5-inch SAS or SATA drives to populate the four large-form-factor bays. A rail kit is available on request and is not included by default. Verify that your rack depth accommodates the 36-inch chassis length and that your PDU connectors match the Flex Slot inputs. The P440 SAS controller manages the drive array, so ensure your chosen drives are compatible with that controller.

Under continuous load the dual 1.7 GHz Xeons maintain steady throughput for virtualization, database and file-serving tasks without the frequency spikes of higher-TDP parts. The 35 MB cache per processor helps keep latency predictable during extended multi-threaded runs. ECC registered memory protects data integrity over long operating periods. The P440 controller with SAS connectivity delivers consistent I/O to the four drive bays, while iLO Advanced provides remote monitoring and firmware management without requiring physical access.
