It targets administrators who need maximum registered capacity per slot for virtualisation or database workloads. Standard desktop boards and unbuffered memory channels cannot accept this module.

Capacity and headroom

A single module delivers 128GB at 1.2V with 4Rx4 organisation, allowing dense memory configurations in supported ProLiant systems. Backward compatibility covers 2133MHz, 2400MHz, 2666MHz and 2933MHz bus speeds, so the part will clock down when paired with slower CPUs or mixed populations. It runs out of headroom when the platform requires registered ECC instead of load-reduced ECC, or when the memory controller limits rank count per channel.

Load-reduced ECC constraint

The deciding specification is the load-reduced ECC protocol: this module must not be mixed with unbuffered or standard registered ECC DIMMs. Buyers who need registered ECC or non-ECC memory for other platforms cannot use this part.
