ECC Registered DDR3 for HP ProLiant Servers

This 32 GB kit contains two 16 GB DDR3 1333 ECC Registered RDIMM modules built to JEDEC PC3-10600 CL9 specifications. It is designed for HP ProLiant DL585 G7, ML370 G6, SL160s G6 and SL160s G7 servers that require registered error-correcting memory. The modules operate at 1.5 V and use a 2Rx4 organisation. They will not work in standard desktop computers or in systems that only accept unbuffered DIMMs.

Straightforward DIMM Installation

Installation follows the normal server procedure: power down, open the chassis, locate the memory risers or DIMM slots, align the 240-pin key and press each module until the ejectors latch. The most common issue is mixing these registered DIMMs with any unbuffered memory already present, which prevents the system from posting. Another frequent mistake is populating slots in the wrong sequence for the specific ProLiant model, so consult the server maintenance guide for the correct population order before starting.

Verify Server Model and Existing Memory

Before ordering, confirm the exact ProLiant model and generation listed on the chassis label or in the iLO interface; only the four models named above are supported. Check whether the current configuration uses registered ECC DDR3 modules, because unbuffered or non-ECC DIMMs cannot be mixed with this kit. Also note the total number of available 240-pin slots and the maximum capacity per socket to ensure the planned upgrade stays within the platform limits.
