The Synology RS2423RP+II is a diskless 2U rackmount enclosure with twelve drive bays designed for centralized data management in small and medium businesses. It provides a private file cloud, multi-site synchronization and a consolidated backup platform. The unit supports up to 240 TB of raw storage before expansion and includes redundant hot-swappable power supplies for service continuity.

Sustained throughput and random IOPS

Under continuous workloads the system delivers over 155K random read IOPS and 79K random write IOPS alongside sequential speeds exceeding 3,500 MB/s read and 1,700 MB/s write. A built-in 10GbE port and dual Gigabit ports can be bonded for link aggregation, enabling automatic failover and load balancing during prolonged file transfers or backup jobs. Two units can form a Synology High Availability cluster for maximum uptime.

Expansion slots and camera licences

Verify that your rack provides a 2U slot and that you have drives compatible with the twelve bays before ordering. Optional expansion units add twelve further bays, while additional network cards can bring 1, 10 or 25GbE connectivity. The base licence covers a limited number of IP cameras; managing up to 75 cameras requires extra licences. Backup coverage for 300 endpoints also needs the appropriate client licences.
