Port mix and host fit

This PCIe expansion card adds seven USB ports to a desktop computer, providing two USB-C and five USB-A connectors. It targets builders who have run out of native ports and need to attach keyboards, mice, printers, phones or game controllers in a single step. The card draws power directly from the PCI Express slot, so no external supply is required. Buyers who need Thunderbolt or video output from a USB-C port should look elsewhere.

Bandwidth sharing under load

The supplier data describes two internal 10 Gbps lanes: one USB-C and three USB-A ports share the first lane, while the remaining ports share the second. When several devices transfer simultaneously, each port’s throughput drops proportionally because the 10 Gbps pool is divided among the active ports on that lane. Sustained multi-device workloads will therefore run below the single-port peak.

Interface ceiling and driver reality

The card plugs into PCIe x4 through x16 slots and is compatible with PCIe 3.0 and 2.0 motherboards, so the slot generation caps the maximum theoretical throughput. Windows 10, 11, Mac OS 10.8.2 and later, and Linux operate without extra drivers, but Windows XP, Vista, 7 and Server editions require a separate driver install. The USB-C ports do not support Power Delivery or DisplayPort alternate modes.
