This motherboard pairs two Intel E5-2620 V3 processors on a single X99 chipset board. Eight DDR4 slots and mixed storage interfaces

The board accepts up to eight DDR4 ECC or non-ECC modules at 2133, 2400 or 2800 MT/s, with each slot supporting 32 GB modules. Storage connects through six SATA 3.0 ports plus two M.2 slots — one PCIe-only and one that also accepts SATA drives. Four USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 headers provide peripheral connectivity while dual PCIe x16 slots leave room for add-in cards.

Replaces single-socket workstations for parallel

Moving from a single-socket board doubles the core count and memory channels without changing the rack footprint. The upgrade makes sense when workloads scale across threads — compile farms, multi-VM hosts or batch processing — but offers no advantage for single-threaded applications or builds that cannot use registered ECC memory.
