Dual 18-core Xeon server for dense virtualisation

The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack system built around two Intel Xeon E5-2699 v3 processors, each running 18 cores at 2.3 GHz with a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. Fifty-twelve gigabytes of DDR4 registered ECC memory fill 16 of the 24 available slots, leaving room for expansion up to 1.5 TB. This configuration targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, VDI, databases or HPC data nodes that need high core counts and large memory capacity in a compact chassis.

Redundant platinum power and hot-swap cooling

Two 750 watt platinum-efficiency power supplies provide full redundancy and hot-swap replacement without downtime. The 2U form factor accommodates eight 2.5-inch drive bays and the PERC H730 controller with its 1 GB cache battery, while the Intel C610 chipset manages I/O. Redundant hot-swap power and the server-class thermal design keep the dual 18-core CPUs and 512 GB of DDR4 memory within operating limits under sustained enterprise workloads.

Quad-port networking and remote management included

A Dell Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports for flexible LAN and storage connectivity. The iDRAC 8 Enterprise licence enables full out-of-band remote management, virtual console and lifecycle automation. Ready Rails and a front bezel ship with the unit, so the server can be racked and secured immediately. Eight 300 GB 10K SAS drives and the H730 RAID controller support RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for local storage resilience.
