Dual 18-core Xeon compute density

The PowerEdge R730 packs two Intel Xeon E5-2699 v3 processors, each with 18 cores at 2.3 GHz and 3.6 GHz turbo. Thirty-six cores and 512 GB of DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC memory give virtualisation hosts, database clusters and HPC data nodes the thread count and memory bandwidth they need in a 2U rack form factor.

24 DIMM slots and eight 2.4 TB SAS drives

Sixteen 32 GB modules occupy 16 of 24 slots, leaving room to grow toward the 1.5 TB maximum. The PERC H730 controller manages eight 2.4 TB 10K SAS drives with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through, so capacity scales until the 2.5-inch bays are full.

Quad-port 1GbE/10GbE and iDRAC8 Enterprise

An Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports for flexible network segmentation. iDRAC8 Enterprise provides full remote management with virtual console and lifecycle automation, while dual 750 W platinum supplies and included rails and bezel complete the deployment kit.

The system uses 16x 32GB DDR4 2133MHz registered ECC modules filling 24 slots, so any additional DDR4 must match that speed, rank and ECC type to remain compatible.

How can I verify the PERC H730 controller is managing the 8x 2.4TB SAS drives correctly after first boot?

Open the PERC H730 BIOS utility or iDRAC8 Enterprise interface; both will show the virtual disk status, RAID level and drive health for all eight 2.4TB SAS drives.

Does the shipment include SFP+ transceivers for the X520 10GbE ports, or must I buy them separately?
