The PowerEdge R740xd is a 2U rack server built for storage-dense workloads such as software-defined storage, virtual desktop infrastructure or service-provider platforms. Two Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors supply 24 cores at 2.1 GHz with 3.0 GHz turbo for multi-threaded throughput. 256 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules supports large working sets. Two 400 GB SATA SSDs and a PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache provide RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through.

Pre-deployment checklist
