The Dell PowerEdge T340 tower server ships new with an Intel Xeon E-2124 quad-core processor running at 3.3GHz up to 4.3GHz turbo. It includes 32GB of DDR4 PC4-21300 2666MHz unbuffered memory across two 16GB modules. Storage is provided by four 8TB 7.2K 6Gb/s SATA 3.5-inch hard drives for a total of 32TB, managed by an integrated PERC S140 RAID controller. A 16GB USB flash drive and DVD-ROM drive are also included.

The tower chassis requires floor or shelf space rather than a standard rack, and it holds four 3.5-inch hot-plug drive bays that are fully populated. Onboard networking is a Broadcom 5720 dual-port 1Gb LOM, so confirm your switch has two available Gigabit ports. Remote management is handled by iDRAC9 Express, which needs a dedicated network drop for out-of-band access.

Four 3.5-inch hot-plug drive bays allow drive replacement without tools, but all bays are occupied by the 8TB SATA drives. Broadcom 5720 dual 1Gb ports and iDRAC9 Express share the rear I/O panel for wired management and data traffic.
