Four-slot PCIe 3.0 carrier

The GIGABYTE CMT4034 installs in a single PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot and exposes four M.2 sockets that accept 2280 or 22110 drives. Each socket runs at PCIe Gen3 x4, giving servers and workstations a dense way to add flash storage without occupying multiple expansion slots. Builders who need more than four M.2 devices will need additional controller cards.

Sustained throughput across four drives

Because the card aggregates four x4 links into one x16 upstream connection, the bus can deliver full Gen3 bandwidth to all slots simultaneously. Workloads that stream data to several SSDs at once — such as database logging, video ingest or checkpoint writing — keep each drive fed without the contention seen on single-lane or bifurcation-limited adapters. Thermal throttling is managed by the host chassis airflow; the card itself has no active cooling.

Replaces multiple single-slot M.2 adapters

One CMT4034 displaces up to four individual PCIe x4 M.2 risers, freeing expansion slots for GPUs, network cards or additional storage controllers. The upgrade makes sense when the platform has an open x16 slot and the workload demands four high-capacity PCIe Gen3 SSDs running in parallel; systems limited to x8 or x4 slots, or those needing PCIe Gen4 or Gen5 speeds, cannot use this card at its rated width or performance.
