The HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 six-core processor at 2.4 GHz into a 1U chassis. Eight gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across 24 DIMM slots. Dual redundant 500 W hot-swap power supplies keep the platform running during a module failure.

300 GB 15 K SAS drives

Two 3.5-inch 300 GB 15 K SAS drives connect to the Smart HBA H240ar controller at 6 Gbps. The controller supports 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Four LFF bays leave two slots open for capacity expansion when the paired drives fill.

Upgrades from single-socket towers or older 2U racks

Adding a second Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 CPU doubles core count to 36 and unlocks the remaining 12 DIMM slots for up to 3 TB total memory. The jump is worth it when virtualisation density or memory-bound databases outgrow a single-socket 1U footprint.
