2U Rack Server for Data Centre Workloads

This HP ProLiant DL380 G9 is a 2U rack server built for data centre environments. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processor running at 1.9GHz and 32GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory. The system includes an HP Smart Array P440 controller with 4GB flash-backed write cache and two 1TB 7.2K SAS drives. Dual 500W redundant hot-swap power supplies are fitted as standard.

Memory Capacity and Storage Headroom

Installed memory sits at 32GB across 24 DIMM slots, with the platform supporting up to 3TB total when both processor sockets are populated. The current single-CPU configuration limits active slots to 12. The P440 controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across 16 SFF drive bays, though only two bays are filled with the supplied 1TB SAS drives. Additional drives and a second processor are required to reach maximum memory and storage density.

Build Integration and Expansion

The chassis provides 16 small form factor 2.5-inch bays with an optional eight-bay extender available for 24-bay density. A universal media bay can occupy the third bay position instead. Two PCIe slots are reserved for the installed P440 controller and integrated Matrox G200eH2 graphics. Redundant power supplies and hot-swap drive trays support continuous operation during maintenance. No operating system is included, leaving OS choice to the deployment team.
