Dual-processor blade server

The HPE BL460c Gen10 blade server fits into a c-Class enclosure and provides two Xeon Gold 5220S processors running at 2.7 GHz with eighteen cores each. It is aimed at data-centre operators who need dense compute for virtualisation or database workloads in a half-height form factor. The system arrives with 128 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and two 1.8 TB SAS hard drives already installed.

Storage interface and bay limit

The onboard Smart Array P204i-b SR controller manages the SAS drives and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5 and 10. Only two 2.5-inch drive bays exist in the blade, so total internal capacity cannot exceed the two installed drives. External storage must be added through the enclosure interconnects or the FlexFabric 20 Gb two-port 650FLB adapter for additional capacity.

Maximum memory reached

The server reaches its factory maximum of 128 GB DDR4 across the available DIMM slots, leaving no room for further memory expansion. Buyers who need more RAM must select a different platform. The dual-socket design also means the blade cannot accept a third processor, fixing the core count at thirty-six.
