The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 chassis delivers two Xeon E5-2683 v4 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with sixteen cores, providing thirty-two threads for virtualisation and database workloads. Two hundred fifty-six gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed, leaving headroom for expansion up to the platform maximum. The four 3.5-inch drive bays accept SATA or SAS media through the integrated Smart Array P440 controller.

Idle acoustics and power baseline

Dual 500 W Flex Slot power supplies share the load, allowing the system to operate efficiently at typical utilisation while maintaining redundancy. Integrated graphics and the two-port 332T Ethernet adapter draw minimal additional power, keeping baseline consumption low in a rack environment. Fan speeds scale with inlet temperature, so noise remains predictable when the server sits in a conditioned aisle.

Sustained load behaviour

Under continuous multi-threaded demand the sixteen-core processors maintain their 2.1 GHz clock across all cores, and the P440 controller sustains write throughput to the attached SAS or SATA volumes. iLO Advanced provides remote health monitoring and power capping if thermal limits are approached during extended runs. The four-bay limit means storage capacity scales with drive size rather than bay count, so workloads needing larger arrays will require external enclosures.
