This Orico 2580U3 enclosure turns a single 2.5″ SATA hard drive or SSD into a portable USB 3.1 Type-C drive. It accepts drives up to 6 TB and 9.5 mm thick, making it suited for laptop upgrades, console storage expansion or simple file transfers between computers. The black plastic shell includes a vintage-style tape label area for quick visual identification.
Check drive height and OS support
Verify that your 2.5″ drive is 7 mm or 9.5 mm thick; a 12.5 mm drive will not fit. The enclosure supports SATA I, II and III drives and works with Windows 8, Windows 10 and Mac OS 8 or later. A host port with USB 3.1 Gen 1 or USB 3.0 is required to reach the stated 6 Gbps link speed and to benefit from the UASP acceleration protocol.
Tool-free build with protective foam
The enclosure opens without tools and the drive slides in within three seconds, supporting hot-swap operation. Internal EVA foam pads cushion the drive against shock and fill the gap when a thinner 7 mm unit is installed. An automatic sleep mode spins the drive down after ten minutes of inactivity to reduce wear and power draw.
