HP ProLiant Gen8 Server Upgrade

This OWC kit provides 32GB of DDR3L ECC Registered memory in a matched pair of 16GB modules. It is built for HP ProLiant DL360e Gen8, DL360p Gen8, DL380p Gen8, DL385p Gen8 and DL580 Gen8 servers that require registered DIMMs. The modules operate at 1600MHz with CL11 latency and 1.35V voltage. They will not work in standard desktop computers or alongside unbuffered memory.

Before You Order

Verify that your server model appears in the compatible list above and that the memory slots accept 240-pin DDR3L RDIMMs. Confirm the system BIOS is updated to a version that supports 16GB density registered modules. Check whether the existing installed memory is also ECC Registered; mixing registered and unbuffered DIMMs will prevent boot. Ensure the operating system and applications can utilise the additional capacity.

Sustained Load Behaviour

ECC circuitry detects and corrects single-bit errors in real time, protecting data integrity during continuous operation. Registered buffering reduces electrical load on the memory controller, helping maintain signal stability when all slots are populated. The 1.35V DDR3L voltage lowers power draw and heat output compared to standard 1.5V DDR3 during extended workloads. No heat spreader is fitted, so adequate chassis airflow is required to keep module temperatures within specification.
