Thunderbolt 4 bandwidth and daisy-chain limits
The four Thunderbolt 4 ports share a total bandwidth of 40 gigabits per second, capping real-world drive speeds at roughly 770 megabytes per second. Users can daisy-chain up to five Thunderbolt devices, connect three USB devices and drive two displays from the same hub.
Single SATA bay with NVMe slot headroom
The internal bay accepts one 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA HDD or SSD, while an additional NVMe M.2 PCIe slot allows a second drive for boot or cache duties. This combination suits 4K video editing and large backups, but the single SATA bay limits maximum capacity to one high-capacity drive at a time.
