Single-Driver Board for BLDC Projects

The SEQURE ODESC V4.2 is a single driver board built around an STM32F405RGT6 microprocessor for brushless DC motor control. It accepts a DC input range of 8V to 56V and delivers a continuous current of 70A with a peak capability of 120A. The board supports multiple control modes including position, speed, current and torque for trajectory planning. Engineers developing CNC machines, 3D printers, robots or AGV platforms can use it as a programmable motion-control platform.

Thermals and Power Draw in Normal Use

A PCB-integrated high-current open skylight design pairs with a custom aluminium heatsink to dissipate heat during typical operation. Continuous current of 70A is achievable when adequate heat dissipation is provided. The unit employs either a 50W power resistor or regenerative braking to handle deceleration energy. Communication interfaces such as USB, UART, CAN, PWM, Step/direction, GPIO and analog input operate without adding significant thermal load.

Behaviour Under Sustained Load

Under prolonged demand the board maintains its 70A continuous rating only when the heatsink and airflow keep temperatures in check; otherwise thermal limits will reduce available current. The peak rating of 120A is intended for short transients and not for extended periods. Regenerative braking returns energy to the supply during long decelerations, while the braking resistor absorbs excess when the bus voltage rises. The 12AWG power cables and included Type-C data cable support the required connections for sustained testing.

Kysymyksiä tästä tuotteesta

How do I connect the ODESC V4.2 to a Raspberry Pi and what step is often missed?

Use the included Type-C cable for USB-protocol communication; the step often missed is ensuring the 8V-56V DC supply is connected before the USB link so the STM32F405RGT6 initialises correctly.

Which components on the ODESC V4.2 will need replacement after long-term use?

The 50W braking resistors and the 12AWG power cables are the wear items; the aluminium heat sink and PCB are not consumable.

What thermal limit appears first when the ODESC V4.2 runs at 70A continuous current?

The 70A rating depends on heat dissipation; if the integrated aluminium heat sink cannot shed heat fast enough the driver will hit its thermal protection before reaching the 120A peak.
