PCIe USB 3.1 Gen 1 expansion card
The EN-Labs PCIEU3A2CS adds one USB Type-C and two USB Type-A ports to a desktop through a PCI Express x1 slot. It uses the VIA VL805 chipset and supports the USB 3.1 Gen 1 standard at up to 5Gbps. The card is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices.
Build integration: slot and power
The card fits PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 slots and includes a full-profile bracket for standard cases. It draws auxiliary power from a SATA 15-pin connector, so a free SATA power lead from the PSU is required. A 20-pin internal header is also present on the board.
Thermals, noise and power draw
The controller runs without a dedicated fan, relying on case airflow for passive cooling. Power consumption is limited to what the SATA connector supplies, adding minimal load to the PSU. Silent operation is maintained because there are no moving parts on the card.
