The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 packs two Xeon E5-2640 v4 processors, each running at 2.4 GHz with 10 cores and 25 MB cache. It ships with 192 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory and supports a maximum of 3 TB. The 8SFF chassis accepts up to eight 2.5 inch drives, though no drives are installed in this configuration. An integrated P440 SAS controller manages RAID across SATA or SAS media.

Thermals and power under typical load

Two 500 W Flex Slot power supplies provide redundancy for the dual-socket platform. The 1U rack form factor relies on internal fans to move air across the CPUs and memory modules. Remote management through iLO Advanced lets administrators monitor temperatures, power draw and fan speeds without being on site. The system ships with firmware updated to the latest stable release after full burn-in testing.

Build quality and daily connectivity

The rack-mount chassis measures 36 by 24 by 10 inches and weighs 40 pounds, fitting standard four-post racks. Networking is handled by an Intel I350 and X540 combination delivering two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE ports. A rail kit is available on request for easier installation and service access. Buyers who need internal storage must add drives separately, and those requiring GPU acceleration will find only integrated graphics on board.
