Front-access 3.5" drive bay

This adapter lets you install a single 3.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD into a standard 5.25-inch front drive bay. It is aimed at PC builders and upgraders who want quick, tool-free access to a 3.5-inch drive without opening the case side panel. The unit supports SATA I, II and III interfaces with data rates up to 6 Gbps and has no stated capacity limit.

Upgrade from internal 3.5" bays

The tray replaces fixed internal 3.5-inch mount points by moving the drive to a front-accessible 5.25-inch bay. The jump is worthwhile when you need hot-swap capability to change drives while the system runs, or when your chassis lacks free internal 3.5-inch slots but has a spare 5.25-inch bay. A front power button lets you spin the drive down without removing it.

Check bay space and driver needs

Verify that your case has an available 5.25-inch external bay with enough depth for the caddy and that your motherboard or controller provides a free SATA port and power connector. Hot-swap operation requires installing the supplied driver on supported Windows versions from 98 through 10 and on macOS 10.2 and above; without the driver the drive will still function as a standard fixed SATA device.
