ESP32-S3 Development Board with AMOLED Display

This waveshare board pairs an ESP32-S3R8 dual-core processor running up to 240 MHz with a 1.43 inch round AMOLED panel. The display delivers 466 × 466 resolution and 16.7M colours across a 178° viewing angle. Onboard 16 MB Flash and 8 MB PSRAM support demanding GUI frameworks such as LVGL. Integrated 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 suit IoT edge prototypes and wearable concepts.

Build Quality and Connectivity for Daily Prototyping

The PCB includes a QMI8658 6-axis IMU and a PCF85063 RTC chip with a dedicated battery header for timekeeping. A TF card slot adds removable storage while USB, UART, I2C and GPIO pin headers expose expansion routes. Capacitive touch on the AMOLED is driven over I2C with interrupt support. An onboard antenna handles wireless traffic and a resistor option allows switching to an external antenna if required.

Thermals Noise and Power in Typical Use

The ESP32-S3R8 integrates 512 KB SRAM and 384 KB ROM alongside the external memory, keeping the silicon footprint compact. With no active cooling fitted, the board runs silently during normal development workloads. Power is drawn from the USB connector or the lithium battery header, letting developers profile consumption for battery-operated designs without fan noise or thermal throttling concerns.
