Socket and generation support

The ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi motherboard uses the Intel LGA 1700 socket and is ready for 12th, 13th and 14th Generation Intel Core processors. A BIOS update may be required before a 13th Generation CPU will boot. The board also accepts Pentium Gold and Celeron chips. Dual mounting holes allow coolers designed for either LGA 1700 or LGA 1200 brackets.

Memory capacity and speed headroom

Four DDR5 slots support up to 256 GB in dual-channel mode. The board validates speeds from 4800 up to 6000 MT/s, all listed as overclocked profiles. Actual data rates and maximum populated slots depend on the specific CPU and memory kit installed. Four M.2 sockets provide NVMe storage expansion, with the top slot running at PCIe 4.0 x4 when a 12th Generation processor is fitted.

Power delivery and thermal design

The voltage regulator uses 14+1 DrMOS power stages rated for 80 amps each, fed by ProCool connectors on a six-layer PCB. Cooling is handled by an enlarged VRM heatsink, a fanless PCH heatsink and dedicated M.2 heatsinks. Hybrid fan headers and the Fan Xpert 4 utility in Armoury Crate manage airflow. Networking uses Wi-Fi 6E and an Intel I225-V 2.5 Gb Ethernet controller with TUF LANGuard protection.
