3.5" 2-Bay NVMe M.2 Backplane Cage

The Athena Power BP-M22NVME8350 mounts in a standard 3.5" bay and holds two M.2 NVMe SSDs. It accepts M-key drives in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths. A built-in 7 x 7 x 1cm fan and aluminum heat sinks with thermal pads cool the drives. The cage connects via two SlimSAS SFF-8654 4i connectors.

SlimSAS 4i connectivity and tool-less trays

Two SlimSAS 4i cables link the backplane to a compatible host adapter or motherboard. Each tray uses a tool-less adjuster for quick drive swaps and a tri-angle security keylock for physical retention. Anti-vibration grounded springs isolate the SSDs from chassis vibration. Power is supplied through two mini 4-pin connectors and a 2-pin fan jumper per tray.

Sustained thermal management under load

The aluminum carrier and thermal pad spread heat from each SSD to the cage frame. The internal fan draws air across both drives continuously, limiting throttling during long write sessions or heavy I/O workloads. Builders who need more than two NVMe drives or who lack a SlimSAS 4i host connection should consider alternative solutions.
