Dense compute for virtualization and databases

The Dell PowerEdge R650 is a 1U rack server built for high-density enterprise workloads. Two Intel Xeon Silver 4314 processors provide 32 total cores at 2.4GHz with 3.4GHz turbo. 512GB of DDR4 2666MHz registered ECC memory supports large virtual machine counts and in-memory databases. Ten 960GB SATA SSDs and a PERC H755 RAID controller deliver fast, redundant storage in a single chassis.

Suits dense virtualization.

This configuration fits clusters running hypervisors, container platforms or transactional databases that need many cores and memory in 1U. The quad-port 1GbE OCP 3.0 adapter handles standard management and migration traffic. Buyers who need GPU acceleration or multi-gigabit networking beyond 1GbE should look at a different platform. Workloads requiring NVMe or SAS drive interfaces are not addressed by the installed SATA SSDs.

10-bay 2.5" front storage with PERC H755 RAID

The chassis holds ten 2.5-inch drives connected to a Dell PERC H755 controller with 8GB NV cache and battery backup. Supported RAID levels include 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. All bays are populated with 960GB SATA 6Gb/s enterprise SSDs. This layout fixes the storage interface and drive count; expansion requires a different chassis or external enclosure.
