The PowerEdge R730XD fits 24 hot-plug 2.5-inch drive bays into a 2U rack footprint. Dual Xeon E5-2630 v3 processors deliver 16 physical cores and 32 threads at 2.4GHz. 128GB of DDR4 memory fills half the 24 DIMM slots. The H330 controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across SAS or SATA drives.

Build integration

Two 750W redundant power supplies share the load without external cabling changes. Six PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated RAID slot leave room for networking or acceleration cards. The iDRAC8 remote-management module runs independently of the host OS. Four onboard 1GbE ports handle baseline traffic; optional NDC cards can upgrade to 10GbE.

Sustained operation

Redundant fans and power supplies keep the chassis running through single-component failures. The Matrox G200 video subsystem consumes minimal power while providing console output. Memory operates at speeds the installed CPUs support, up to 2400MT/s. Maximum raw capacity reaches 52TB when all bays are populated with high-density drives.
