The HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 is a 1U rack server built for balanced compute density. Suits single-socket workloads needing SATA RAID

This configuration fits environments that run virtualisation, web hosting or general-purpose applications on a single processor with software RAID on SATA media. The eight 2.5-inch bays allow additional SATA drives to be added later. Buyers who need hardware RAID, SAS connectivity or a second CPU installed from the start should look at alternative configurations. The Matrox G200 graphics provides basic console output only.

B140i software RAID limits storage to SATA

The onboard B140i controller supports RAID 0, 1 and 5 exclusively on SATA drives. It does not support SAS or other drive interfaces. If the deployment requires hardware RAID acceleration, SAS drive support or a different RAID level, this server will not meet that requirement without adding a supported controller card.
