Capacity and Headroom
Eight ranks of 4Rx4 Samsung, Micron or Hynix chips provide dense capacity for virtualisation, large databases and in-memory analytics. The registered buffer reduces electrical load on the memory controller, allowing all eight slots to be populated. Workloads that exceed 1 TB will require a platform with higher maximum memory support.
DDR4 3200 Interface Limits
The PC4-25600 interface caps peak bandwidth at the DDR4 3200 data rate, so throughput cannot scale beyond this generation's ceiling. Registered signalling adds a cycle of latency compared with unbuffered modules, which affects latency-sensitive tasks. Systems limited to lower DDR4 speeds will downclock the kit automatically.
