The TeKit expansion card adds two DB9 RS232 ports through a PCI‑Express 1.0 x1 slot using the WCH382L chip. It targets IPC builders, telecom integrators, medical equipment technicians and POS installers who still drive engraving machines, cutting plotters, access-control panels or serial printers from a modern motherboard.
Passive cooling keeps the slot silent
The 60 g board draws power only from the PCI‑Express bus and has no fan or heatsink, so it adds no audible noise inside a chassis. The 1.0 link runs at 2.5 Gb/s full duplex, and the 16C550‑compatible UARTs provide 256‑byte FIFOs that keep CPU interrupts low during normal RS232 traffic.
Sustained transfers hold at 250 kb/s per port
Each channel supports hardware flow control and data lengths of 5 to 8 bits, allowing continuous streams up to the rated 250 kb/s without overflow. Remote wake‑up and power‑management features let the host sleep between bursts, while driver support spans Windows 98 SE through Server 2012 plus Linux for long‑term deployments.
