Dense 1U compute node

The Dell PowerEdge R650xs packs two Xeon Gold 6338 processors, each with 32 cores at 2.0 GHz, into a single rack unit. Sixteen DDR4 modules provide 512 GB of registered ECC memory. Eight 960 GB SATA SSDs sit behind a PERC H745 controller with 4 GB NV cache. Dual 10 GbE SFP+ ports and iDRAC9 Enterprise complete the package for virtualization, cloud or dense analytics clusters.

Memory ceiling and storage limits

The 16 DIMM slots max out at 1 TB, so the current 512 GB leaves room to double capacity before hitting the ceiling. The front bay holds eight 2.5-inch drives; the installed SSDs fill every slot, so any expansion requires replacing drives or adding external storage. RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 are all supported by the H745.

Included rails, bezel and management

Ready Rails and a front bezel arrive in the box, so the server mounts in a standard rack without extra kits. The iDRAC9 Enterprise licence enables full remote console, automation APIs and lifecycle management from day one. Dual 1400 W platinum power supplies provide hot-swap redundancy. No GPU, additional NICs or NVMe drives are included.
