The Dell PowerEdge R740 fits two 14-core Intel Gold 6132 processors at 2.6 GHz and 512 GB of DDR4 memory into a 2U rack chassis, giving virtualization hosts or database nodes a high core count without consuming extra rack units.

Eight-bay SAS limit

Only eight 2.5-inch drive bays are available, so the 7.68 TB SAS SSDs already occupy every slot; the H730P RAID controller manages those drives but cannot address additional internal storage beyond the eight bays.

Redundant power and remote control
