128GB DDR3L kit for Cisco UCS

This 128GB kit contains eight 16GB DDR3L 1600 CL11 ECC registered RDIMMs built for Cisco UCS B260 M4 and B460 M4 E7 v2 and v3 blade servers. Each module uses a 2Rx4 organisation and runs at 1.35V without heat spreaders. The registered design adds a clock cycle for signal integrity in dense memory configurations. It is not compatible with standard desktop platforms or unbuffered memory types.

Sustained load behaviour with registered ECC

The registered buffer reduces electrical loading on the memory controller, allowing all eight DIMMs to operate at the rated 1600 MT/s under continuous server workloads. ECC circuitry detects and corrects single-bit errors on every transaction, preventing data corruption during long-running compute or virtualisation tasks. CL11 latency remains stable because the buffer absorbs timing variation across ranks. The 1.35V DDR3L voltage lowers power draw per module compared to standard DDR3.

DDR3L 240-pin interface limits

The 240-pin DDR3L interface caps transfer rates at PC3L-12800, so bandwidth cannot exceed the JEDEC DDR3L 1600 specification regardless of processor capability. Registered DIMMs cannot be mixed with unbuffered or load-reduced modules in the same channel. Maximum capacity is constrained by the blade server's memory controller and DIMM slot count. The 1.35V signalling requires platform support for DDR3L voltage levels.
