This passive CPU heatsink is designed for Supermicro X9 2U WIO+ dual-processor servers. It supports Intel Xeon E5-2600 series processors installed in a LGA2011 narrow ILM socket. The unit is intended for rackmount chassis where system airflow provides the necessary cooling.
The heatsink uses a copper and aluminum base with heat pipes and aluminum fins to dissipate heat without a dedicated fan. Thermal performance depends entirely on the forced airflow generated by the chassis fans. As a passive component, it adds zero acoustic noise and draws no electrical power itself.
The cooler measures 80.0 by 104.0 by 64.0 millimetres, fitting the 2U form factor height constraint. It secures to the motherboard using a screw and spring mounting mechanism that applies even pressure on the narrow ILM. The construction combines a copper-aluminum base with heat pipes and stacked aluminum fins for structural rigidity.

Align the heatsink over the CPU, then secure the four spring-loaded screws in a diagonal sequence. The step often missed is tightening each screw gradually in multiple passes to ensure even pressure across the copper base.
Periodically remove dust from the aluminum fins using compressed air. Since there are no moving parts, the copper heat pipes and aluminum base require no replacement unless physical damage occurs.
The 2U height constraint caps fin surface area, so case airflow becomes the limiting factor. If chassis fans cannot move enough air through the fins, CPU temperatures will throttle before the heatsink itself saturates.
