The KingSpec NT-1TB-2242 is a 1TB internal solid-state drive built in the M.2 2242 form factor. It connects through a SATA interface and uses 3D NAND flash memory. The drive is designed for consumer desktops, laptops and ultrabooks that accept a 22 mm by 42 mm SATA module.

Suits SATA M.2 2242 slots; not for PCIe-only sockets

This drive fits systems with an M.2 slot wired for SATA signalling, such as certain Lenovo ThinkPad, HP ProBook and ASUS Vivobook models. It delivers sequential reads up to 570 MBps and writes up to 540 MBps with random performance of 24,300 read IOPS and 6,400 write IOPS. Devices limited to PCIe signalling cannot use this module.

SATA interface on M.2 2242 form factor

The decisive specification is the SATA interface combined with the 2242 dimensions. Buyers must verify their motherboard or laptop provides a SATA-wired M.2 slot of this length; a PCIe-only slot will not work. Power draw is 0.58 W idle and 1.5 W active, with an operating range of 0 °C to 70 °C.
