The Solidigm D7-PS1030 is a 3.2TB enterprise solid-state drive built for data-centre servers. It uses a U.2 15mm form factor with a PCI-Express 5.0 x4 interface and 176L TLC 3D NAND. The drive delivers up to 14500 MBps sequential read and 8200 MBps sequential write speeds. It is suited to organisations running heavy read-intensive workloads.

Upgrade from PCIe 4.0 or lower-capacity U.2 drives

Moving from a PCIe 4.0 U.2 SSD doubles the interface bandwidth, raising sequential read potential to 14500 MBps and random read to 3100000 IOPS. The jump is worth it when current storage saturates the bus during database scans, analytics or virtualisation I/O. If existing drives already meet latency and throughput targets, the upgrade yields diminishing returns.

3.2TB capacity with 3 DWPD endurance

The 3.2TB capacity handles large datasets, write-heavy logging tiers and mixed read-write caches with 17.5 PBW total endurance. Random write performance of 716000 IOPS sustains transactional databases and checkpointing. Workloads exceeding 3 DWPD or needing more than 3.2TB per drive will require additional units or higher-capacity models.
