Dense Virtualisation Platform

The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rack server built for dense virtualisation, private cloud and high-performance computing workloads. Dual Xeon Gold 6148 processors provide 40 cores at 2.40 GHz with turbo up to 3.70 GHz. A 512 GB DDR4 memory pool supports large-scale consolidation. Eight 7.68 TB SATA SSDs deliver 61.44 TB of enterprise flash capacity. Windows Server 2022 Standard is licensed for 16 cores.

Build Integration

The server arrives with hot-swappable redundant power supplies and a rail kit for standard 1U rack mounting. A PERC H730 RAID controller with 2 GB non-volatile cache manages the eight drive bays. Broadcom BCM5720 quad-port 1 GbE networking handles baseline connectivity. iDRAC9 Express provides out-of-band management without an operating system. Memory and drives ship separately for on-site installation.
