The ICY DOCK MB492SKL-B converts a single 3.5" front bay into two removable slots for 2.5" SATA or SAS drives. It targets industrial PCs, surveillance recorders and embedded systems where physical security and hot-swap access matter. The full-metal chassis and keyed lock deter unauthorised removal. A thumb screw adds a second mechanical restraint. ||

Thermals noise and power

The unit has no fan or active cooling; it relies on case airflow passing through the open tray design. Metal construction conducts heat away from the drives without adding acoustic noise. Power draw is limited to the two installed drives themselves; the backplane adds no measurable overhead. ||
