Industrial isolated serial converter

This LORDWORLD development board converts a USB port into an isolated RS485 or RS422 interface using an FT232RL controller and SP485EEN transceiver. Onboard power isolation removes the need for a separate supply on the field side while a TVS device clamps surge and electrostatic events. A 120R termination resistor is fitted by default and can be disabled with a jumper. The assembly fits a standard DIN rail inside an ABS housing.

Makers and engineers adding serial links to PCs

The board suits developers who need a protected USB-to-serial bridge for industrial sensors, Modbus networks or lighting consoles running on Windows XP through Windows 10, Linux, Android, Mac or Wince. It is not for designs that require a non-isolated connection, a different transceiver voltage level or a bare PCB without the rail-mount enclosure.

FT232RL and SP485EEN chipset
