32GB DDR4 ECC Registered kit for Dell PowerEdge

This 32GB kit contains two 16GB DDR4 2133MHz ECC Registered DIMMs built for Dell PowerEdge R730, R730xd and T630 servers. Each module runs at 1.2V with CL15 timing and a 2Rx4 organisation. The 288-pin form factor fits the 12 DIMM sockets per CPU, scaling to 24 sockets in a dual-CPU configuration. It is designed for administrators who need registered ECC memory that the platform validates at install.

Thermals noise and power draw in normal use

Registered DIMMs operate at the standard 1.2V DDR4 voltage, keeping power draw low inside densely populated server chassis. No heat spreader is fitted, so airflow through the system’s existing fan walls handles cooling without added acoustic load. The modules add no moving parts and generate no audible noise beyond the server’s normal thermal profile.

Upgrade path and when the jump is worth it

The kit replaces or supplements the standard 8GB modules shipped with these platforms, moving a single channel from 8GB to 16GB per slot. It is compatible with the 384GB registered ECC RDIMM ceiling and the 768GB LRDIMM ceiling when 32GB modules are released. Mixing registered and unbuffered ECC in the same system is not supported, so buyers who need unbuffered ECC or who require 4GB modules in x8 organisation should look elsewhere.
