The Dell PowerEdge R740xd chassis fits up to 24 small-form-factor drives in a 2U rack-mount frame. Two Xeon Gold 5120 processors at 2.2 GHz deliver 14 cores each for multi-threaded applications. 1 TB of DDR4 ECC registered memory is installed and the platform supports up to 3 TB total.

Verify rack depth power

The unit measures 36 inches deep and weighs 40 pounds so confirm your rack can accommodate the length and load. Dual 1100 W power supplies are fitted; ensure your PDU or circuit can supply the required current. The backplane uses SATA signalling and the PERC H730P controller manages RAID, so drives must be SATA models.

PERC H730P and iDRAC9 Enterprise simplify deployment
