The HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 arrives with a single Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 twelve-core processor at 2.3 GHz and 64 GB of DDR4 ECC memory already installed. Two 4 TB 7.2 K 3.5-inch SAS drives and the Smart HBA H240ar controller provide immediate storage capacity with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 support. Dual 500 W hot-swap power supplies deliver redundant power from day one.
Storage and controller benefits
The H240ar handles both 12 Gb SAS and 6 Gb SATA devices, so the two included drives can be joined by additional SAS or SATA disks without a controller swap. Twelve large-form-factor bays accept 3.5-inch drives, and an optional rear cage can add three more LFF or two SFF bays when the riser 2 slot is free. RAID flexibility lets you match capacity or redundancy to the workload.
Compatibility checks
Verify that your rack provides 2U of clearance and that the facility power can feed two 500 W supplies on independent circuits. The server supports a second Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processor for up to 36 total cores, but the 24 DIMM slots are already populated to the 64 GB maximum with the installed modules. No operating system is included, so plan for your own hypervisor or OS installation media.
