M.2 SATA and mSATA to 2.5" Adapter

This adapter converts M.2 SATA NGFF and mSATA solid-state drives into a standard 2.5 inch SATA form factor. It supports B-key and B-plus-M-key modules in 2280, 2260 and 2242 lengths. The board includes a toggle switch to select between the two installed drives, but only one operates at a time. Builders upgrading laptops or desktops with legacy SATA bays can reuse existing drives without an external enclosure.

Sustained transfer limited by SATA III

The SATA III interface caps sequential throughput at 6 Gbps, so real-world speeds plateau around 500 MB/s regardless of drive rating. B-plus-M key SATA only — no NVMe support

The single specification that decides compatibility is the keying: only M.2 SATA drives with B or B-plus-M keys work. Any drive labelled NVMe, PCIe or M-key is electrically incompatible and will not be detected. The adapter does not translate protocols, so NVMe SSDs from Samsung 980 series, WD SN series, Crucial P3 series and similar models cannot be used with this board.
