The Supermicro AS -4124GS-TNR is a 4U rackmount barebone server built for dual AMD EPYC 7003 and 7002 series processors. It requires two CPUs; single-socket operation is not supported. The board provides 32 DDR4 3200 registered ECC DIMM slots and demands at least four modules per processor. Integrated Aspeed AST2500 graphics handle basic display output.
Memory capacity reaches 8 TB when all 32 slots are populated with supported DDR4 3200 registered ECC modules. The architecture enforces a minimum of four DIMMs per CPU for EPYC 7003 series chips, so partial fills below that threshold will not post. Builders needing more than 8 TB of system memory cannot be accommodated by this platform.
Expansion offers nine PCIe 4.0 x16 full-height full-length slots, rising to ten when NVMe devices are not installed. Storage density tops out at 24 hot-swap 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drive bays. Workloads requiring more than ten full-length PCIe 4.0 cards or more than 24 front-accessible drives exceed the chassis limits.

Yes, the board accepts DDR4 3200 ECC registered modules; you must populate at least four DIMMs per CPU for the 7003 series to initialise.
Connect a monitor to the rear VGA port and the dedicated IPMI LAN port; the AST2500 will display the BMC login prompt and POST codes if the 2000 W redundant supplies are delivering power.
The barebone includes the hot-swap backplane and bay frames; you still need to purchase 2.5" SAS/SATA drives and any NVMe U.2/U.3 drives plus their cables for the PCI-E 4.0 slots.
