High-performance thermal grease 16 W/mK
Alphacool Subzero is a high-performance thermal compound rated at 16 W/mK thermal conductivity and supplied in a 3.5 g syringe. The grey paste has a density of 2.7 g/cm³ and a viscosity of 850000 TF that makes it slightly more fluid than many alternatives. It is non-electrically conductive so accidental contact with components is unlikely to cause damage.
Practical limits of the paste interface
Thermal paste can only fill microscopic gaps between the CPU heat spreader and the cooler base; it cannot compensate for poor mounting pressure, warped surfaces or an undersized cooler. The 16 W/mK rating represents the material's intrinsic conductivity, not the final junction temperature which also depends on cooler capacity and case airflow. The 3.5 g volume is enough for several applications but will not last for frequent re-pasting of large server arrays.
Easy installation with included spatula
The syringe features a screw-on cap that prevents the compound from drying out between uses, and a plastic spatula is included for spreading a thin, even layer across the entire CPU surface. The lower viscosity helps the paste flow into micro-voids without excessive force, but users must still avoid applying too much material which can pump out under thermal cycling. Clean surfaces thoroughly before application for best results.

Întrebări despre acest articol
The 3.5 g syringe is the only size listed — will that cover multiple CPU applications?
The 3.5 g tube typically covers several standard CPU installs; apply a thin layer across the whole heat-spreader each time and reseal the screw-on lid to prevent the 850 000 TF viscosity paste from drying out.
What does the 16 W/mK conductivity figure mean once the paste is between a CPU and cooler?
The 16 W/mK rating indicates very high heat-transfer capability, helping move thermal energy from the die to the cold plate more efficiently than lower-conductivity compounds in high-end systems.
The paste is non-electrically-conductive — does that remove all risk if it spreads onto the motherboard?
Because the compound is not electrically conductive, accidental contact with PCB traces or pins is highly unlikely to cause short-circuit damage, though careful application with the included spatula is still advised.
