This ASUS TUF Gaming motherboard uses the Intel Z790 chipset and an LGA 1700 socket. It supports 12th, 13th and 14th generation Intel Core, Pentium Gold and Celeron processors. The board delivers a 16+1 DrMOS power stage design with ProCool sockets and military-grade TUF components. A BIOS update may be needed for certain 14th gen CPUs.

DDR4 memory and four M.2 slots

Four 288-pin slots accept DDR4 modules up to 128 GB total in dual-channel mode, with supported speeds from 2133 up to 5333 when overclocked. Expansion includes one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot running at x4, one PCIe 4.0 x4 slot and two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots. Storage connectivity covers four M.2 sockets (Key M, lengths 2242, 2260, 2280, 22110) plus four SATA 6Gb/s ports with RAID 0/1/5/10 support.

WiFi 6 and Thunderbolt 4 header

Networking is handled by WiFi 6 AX201 (802.11 ax) and an Intel I225-V 2.5Gb LAN controller with TUF LANGuard. Rear and front I/O include a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C header, a USB 20Gbps Type-C port and a Thunderbolt 4 (USB4) header. Audio uses the Realtek S1220A codec for 7.1 surround with an integrated headphone amplifier. Build-friendly features include SafeDIMM, PCIe 5.0 SafeSlot, Q-LED, M.2 Q-Latch and a pre-mounted I/O shield.
