The HP ProLiant DL160 Gen9 fits in a single rack unit and ships with one eight-core Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 processor at 2.4 GHz. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 ECC memory occupy two of the sixteen DIMM slots, leaving room for expansion up to the platform maximum. Two 1 TB 7.2 K SATA drives are installed in the eight-bay SFF chassis, and the B140i controller provides software RAID levels 0, 1 and 5. A redundant 550 W hot-swap power supply is included.

The B140i controller supports only SATA drives, so the system cannot use the SAS backplane or SAS disks that the chassis is able to accept.
