24-Bay 4U Storage Server Chassis

This 4U rackmount chassis provides 24 hot-swappable 3.5-inch drive bays plus four 2.5-inch bays. It targets builders deploying high-density storage servers for IPFS nodes, backup targets or media libraries. The 6Gb/s miniSAS backplane supports both Sata and SAS drives. Three 12038 fans deliver front-to-rear airflow.

Capacity and Headroom

Twenty-four 3.5-inch bays allow raw capacities into the hundreds of terabytes with current drives. Two internal and two rear 2.5-inch bays host OS or cache SSDs. The backplane includes time-sharing spin-up to limit inrush current. Seven full-height PCIe slots accommodate HBA or RAID controllers. Maximum motherboard size is 12 by 10.5 inches.

6Gb/s miniSAS Backplane Limits

The standard backplane runs at 6Gb/s per lane, capping sequential throughput per drive at that rate. An optional 12Gb/s version lifts the ceiling for SAS SSDs. Expander support lets one HBA address all bays, but total bandwidth remains bound by the HBA link width. PWM fan control and SGPIO status LEDs are integrated.
