Two isolated RS232 channels
This HAT adds two galvanically isolated RS232 ports to any Raspberry Pi board with a 40-pin GPIO header, from the original Model B+ through the Pi 4 and Zero variants. The SC16IS752 bridges the Pi SPI bus to dual UARTs, while the SP3232 drivers provide the RS232 voltage levels. On-board TVS devices clamp transient spikes and ESD events on each line. Status LEDs show power and traffic, and broken-out SPI pins allow the same board to be driven by an Arduino or similar host. Example code in C and Python is supplied.
Makers adding legacy serial to a Pi
Engineers integrating industrial sensors, PLCs, or older networking gear that still speak RS232 will find a drop-in solution with full isolation and surge protection. Developers who need more than two serial channels, or who require a different physical layer such as TTL, must use a different board. The HAT occupies the full GPIO header, so projects that also need those pins for other peripherals should plan accordingly. No driver installation is required on the Pi side; the SPI-UART bridge appears as standard tty devices.
Maximum data rate 921600 bps
The SC16IS752 UARTs are rated for 921600 bps, which sets the ceiling for each RS232 channel. Cable quality, length, and the remote device determine the reliable throughput in practice. If your application demands higher baud rates, this HAT will not meet the requirement.

Otázky k tomuto produktu
Does the 40-pin GPIO header fit a Raspberry Pi Zero W?
Yes, the HAT uses the standard 40-pin GPIO extension header and is listed as compatible with Raspberry Pi Zero and Zero W models.
How do I enable the SC16IS752 SPI-to-RS232 bridge on Raspberry Pi OS?
Enable the SPI interface in raspi-config, add the appropriate device-tree overlay for the SC16IS752, then reboot; the board will appear as /dev/ttySC0 and /dev/ttySC1.
What protects the RS232 ports from voltage spikes over time?
Onboard TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diodes clamp surge and transient spike voltages on each RS232 line, providing continuous lightning-proof and anti-electrostatic protection.
